hi mivec
this is more likely a custom made issue and may differ between tank makers. If you are living on a landed prop, then placing a 3-tier 4fter tank is okay....but if you are living in an apt....this may not be advisable

hi David, will it be too heavy? I'm staying in a HDB flat.
the thing will literally weigh a ton! (around 750kg) so not advisable.----------------

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Wah liao then like that i can only go for a 2tier.[:]
Tot that i can save some space, as i only have enough room to keep 4ft tanks.
Then can anyone quote me the market price for a 2tier 4*2*2 and a 2tier 4*1.5*1.5.[]
sorry hor, 2-tier 4x2x2 can weigh over 850kg!

Wah so heavy ar.
How about a 4*1.5*1.5?
Got anything in between or not?[]
Then for HDB wats the best size(i mean the biggest tank) one can keep. But of cos a 2tier.
well, 4x1.5x1.5 two-tiered should weigh around 500kg lah. you just have to calculate the volume of the tank in cm ie 120x45x45 which will give you a figure in cc (ala your 2000cc car), then throw away the last 3 digits to give the value in litres (1000cc = 1 litre). 1 litre water is 1kg. Give and take a bit (gravel, fert, water not filled to the brim) etc.

Ic ic. Never knew that, thks from letting me know.
So for normal HBD flat the floor can 'ta han' less then 600kg only rgt?
Is it true that the wall will crack if the tanks r too heavy?
Whats the market price for a 2tier 4*1.5*1.5 then.
a safe bet is to position yr tank along a structure member (column/beam)
it was a hot topic.....

I didn't know till I read the above ..... some of engineer friend did some calculation....
3 tie??? it would too high , will be difficult to wash and maintence the upper tank....
Simon- so it's safer to place the at the corner of the room by the walls???
Actually i planned to place it where i place my 3ft and 2ft now(3ft on top and 2ft bottom). Behind it is the wall and about 1.5ft to the right will be another wall, so its near a corner is it safe?
yes, if u guys call up HDB, they will recommend less than 4ft in one flat... but, I think thats according to their standard regulations.. if u place the tank along/near a column or beam.. its defintely better.. but dun go overboard and start placing 3tier.. coz I dun think its safe anymore
Thks simon, hwchoy, david and joestoys for all of ur output.[]
But may i know roughly the price of a 2tier 4ft.
So a 2-tier 4.5 x2x2 save or not?
vic, seen them in hdb flats b4.. jus place them at those places I stated above
yeah like simon said place them by pillars and support stuctures. if not sure, go downstairs to the void deck and identify which part of your house have these structures. (they will be certain walls in your house)
just stay within "reasonable limits".....
3 tier i feel is too much load in a small area.
speed limit is 50km/h, ppl seldom stick to that....but also doesnt mean we can do 120 on a 50 road too.
[:]
eeerhh.....
think it may be better just to have one 6fter than 2 4fters........

haha
yeah cannot
120 on a 90 highway always see
but 120 thru a housing estate i dont always see
but there are a lot of "hand gun sons" who think they know what they are doing [:0]
