I dun think so... If my memory serves me, it belongs to the Cabomba family... Have it in a book on aquatic plants but I'm not at home to refer to it.

oh my goosh!!! kanna conned. sigh... anyway anyone know how to trim this plant if it grows too tall??? the shop keeper ask me simply cut off the top can already but isn't that gonna be ugly//??
I think it is far from Cabomba species, in my opinion.
Other possibilities:
- Eustralis stellata
- Ludwigia sp "Pantanal"
- Ludwigia inclinata var. verticillata
- Limnophila aromatica
Try Google images to do a search.

Sorry for the misleading info... Looks like blood stargrass alright... Scientific name is 'Didiplis diandra'. Demanding plant for it to obtain the reddish colour, otherwise, it will be all green.
Webbie that I found similiar pic from http://www.plantgeek.net/plantguide_viewer.php?id=83

no problem...thanks for the information. when they say propagation by cutting meaning to say i cut and replant??? but after i cut the old plant will lost it's crown isn't it going to be ugly??
When the plant grows too tall, you cut the stem somewhere between the leaf nodes, and replant the cut upper portion. The remaining stem will develop side shoots with new crowns.
wow thanks alot... think i got all the information i need for stargrass already... if it doesn't stay in red colour anymore i just need to dose in some iron trace element for it rite???
looks more like Ludwigia sp "Pantanal" to me..
yes, I think its Pantanal...dipilis isn so bushy at the crownOriginally Posted by ranmasatome

Hi Soul, Stargrass is another plant altogether The leaves are kinda thick or big for DD. Don't think its DD.
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.
hi bro
can post some pic of star grass ? sound interesting!
thanks
The plant in the picture is definitely Ludwigia sp "Pantanal".
To get a red top, think you need colder water. I bought a plant, red on top. After a week or so in my tank of 28 deg, it slowly changes to green. Now, with a fan blowing above , it changes to red again. I believed cold water gives plants their best color, perhaps not for all plants. Think colder countries which tends to have beautiful & more colorful flowers. Juz my 1 cent worth thought
the plant just grows in green when its lower down..due to lower lights.. but when it reaches above..due to higher lights.,.it usually turns red. i dont think its because of your fan.
I bought the plant (dont know it's name) cos i like the red top then. But it turned green while it actually grew taller to the water surface (Yes, they really grow fast!). I bought the fan & blew over the water overnight. The fan was actually mend for the moss, . By next day, it turned red again! That's why i related this to the fan, . Perhaps some one could advise on this.Originally Posted by ranmasatome
The plant turning red may mean depleting of N. Watch out on your dosing of NO3. If N goes too low, you might get algae.
