Corydoras Hastatus - very nice tight schoolers! They dig into the plants to look for worms, very nice characteristics!

Mircorasbora Kubotai - very jittery fast swimmers, but it's green tint adds another dimension of colour. Small and nice!

Microrasbora erythromicron - another fast swimmer, sometimes nippy but once well-fed, make very good addition to the family.

Thanks to Barrane for the photo taking - will be inviting u over for more pix taking esp my rubies and dwarf pencil!

To mods - can we have a database of planted comm fish?
    Cheers,
    Andrew

I have a school of hastatus now in a small moss tank. Have had schools of the other two species, habrosus and pygmaeus but have only bred the pygmaeus.

    Also, the good old cardinal...

Smaller? It would be the Dario dario...

I like Boraras Merahs. Tiny, not too colourful and not too drab looking either.

Go here if pic does not load.

I always see merah as a cross between the price of a briggittae and the looks of a maculata.

Briggittaes are nice. Once they settle, their red is very nice.

Dario dario are reported to be aggressive towards their own kind.

Darios are agressive to their own kind but given vegetation and places to hide, that should be ok... They are less agressive that Badis sp..

I quite dislike Boraras sp. now... They like to just hang around and do nothing or worse, hide away all the time... Nothing exciting about them leh, except that they are small and great for small tanks, size-wise...

They cannot all be found in a single lfs and they come periodically. So sometimes, you have to wait some time.
I frequent Chong Sua, Kingfisher, Biotope, TB Ben, C328, Ecoculture@CF to get them.

Yup.. C328 would be a good starting point for you if you are still in NUS... They often have darios...But do note that Aunty already said she will not bring in Boraras sp. liao... Ben's Wu Hu is also a good place to go to... I find CS's fish more 'exotic'... very nice to visit there once in a while...

There's still Dario at CS, plus some assorted small Boraras, a tankful of Horadandia atukorali and other small fishes suitable for such tanks such as Microrasbora erythromicron (one tank full too). Dario dario are quite territorial but their aggression is really muted in comparison to other fish like some of the apistos.

They're small, beautiful and easy to keep. Cheap too but usually only males are sold. For those not interested in breeding them, then the males will suit such small tanks easily.

i had 10 darios. 5 females and 5 males.now i got 1 male and 5 females.....the dominant male usually gets rid of other competition.the last time i kept them in a 1 foot tank, this also happened.now in a 3ft tank also the same.my plants are not dense so less place to hide.after the growth is better i plan to get more.

can anyone tell me where is Chong Sua? thanks.
