I've 3ft planted tank for a while and one day, I discovered this plant floating (see photo) covering all the water surface and it came from no where? Would it be hurtful to the fishes?

Duckweed!! (The plant, not the forummer )Give them to Wackytpt to feed his goldfish... Haha... IMHO, those plants will LINGER around even if you (believed that you) had removed them and are like the evil spirits of the plantworld... I am very scared of them and their 'cousins' (bigger leaves) now...

Remove them quickly if you don't want them to spread, I've heard they can be a complete PITA.

Not a bad plant to shade some lights, or to feed the duck!

Yeap, I removed them a few times but each time they come back very fast.

Nevertheless, my kids love to see this plant and the fishes also seems to enjoy them but they block the water surface area in no time..

My sisters HATE the sight of this plant... They say the way this plant covers the entire water surface gives them the creep... Haha... Much like alot of people cannot tahan seeing the black papaya seeds when they cut the papaya...
