I noticed that my plants grow much more if I pour in the KNO3 just before light out compared to pouring it just before light on.

But somehow, I seem to have this impression that it is bettrer to fertilise when lights is on. I might be mistaken here. But I might be imagining things on the former too.

What are your experiences? Please share.
    Warm regards,

I'm interested to have feedback as well. There was a post by someone I read long ago that his plants did do better when he dosed just after lights out then the morning after.

    My questions:
    - Do you have records with photos to back up this observation? Or other records on the different species, uptake of nutrients rate, etc etc?
    - Some evidents will be required for recording uptake rates of KNO3 in the lights off and lights on period before it is useful to discuss. Otherwise, it probably end up talking about 'my feel".
    - Have you tried reverting back to the old ways, make record and change to the new methods again to prove it once more?

It could be just coincidental that the plants grew better, or just a feeling?
Perhaps there might be literature about this on the web.

No records, no camera. Uptake of nutirents etc, I'm not too sure. Too technical for me to calculate.

Before, I just pour them into the tank -- NO3 around 5ppm daily, PO4, around 2ppm alternate days with trace. 2ml of trace (TMG) 3 times a week, for a 24L tank. Trim plants every 3weeks when they cover the surface and trapped food start to rot. Now, dosing same amount but just before lights out and it seem I need to do trimming with more frequency.

To me, more work is bad, but to others, it means better growth.

No need. Just post and see if others also get the same response too. I leave the scientific note taking to the scientists lah. The hobbyists get the gut feel and the scientist go out to prove it.

Dunno, like I mentioned previously, I might be imaginiing things. More work is bad. And I seem to be getting more work at work, and now even more work trimming...If there is a quantifiable cause, it must be this:

I must have been wicked in something as I'm a getting no rest. just like what mom says: The wicked will get no rest.
