don't worry, be happy
a LOT of light and good CO2.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

i would say just enough light... 3-4 wpg...
or for a 2 feet tank 55-72 watts (thats the common config)
tried too much light on a small tank, affects the size of the leaves. it becomes a bit too large and doesnt stick so close to the gravel.
... not forgetting fertile substrate
how much watts do i need for my glosso in 3 feet tank?
it doesn't matter if it's 3ft or 10ft just make sure the lightings are sufficient for them to crawl , a good guideline is 3W/G some people goes up to 6-7W/G. Anything lower then that will cause them to be like eels sticking out from the sand
If you just want to grow glosso without them crawling think 2W/G? or just sufficient light for them to photosynthesis.
Your tank with 144watts should be good for crawling glossos IMO.

You need to "teach" them (the glosso) sometimes to crawl .

How i wish i can teach algaes not to attack me
Cheers!

CO2 is important as well. Not only promote growth, also will prevent BBA from growing on them.
God, what kind of algae attacks people!Originally Posted by benetay

i have qualms about the saying that glosso needs fertile substrate. I think they take in more nurtrients from the surrounding water. Thus i would say you will need to get the right dosing of liquid fert for the healthy maintanence of your glosso

90 x 50 x 50 cm tank: Eheim 2217; ANS CO2 Solenoid with 60mm intense bazooka; Zetlight 6400; Teco 500 Chiller; Borneo Wild Steel inlet/outlet
Ferts: Dry Mixture/Dr Mallicks. Temp: 26 degrees Substrate: ADA Amazonia
i'm now just running 72 watts for the whole tank. and running 1 bubble per seconds for co2 with external reactor. how come my glosso seems like crawling into the sand (disappear from surface) and their leaves are small in size?
first off, you sure yours is glosso or HC? And are they crawling or withering and thats why disappearing?
72 w for 2ft tank appears to be sufficient, the last time i have glosso in that same condition, mine crawled very nicely

it's confrim a glosso. not HC. i'm 3 ft with 72W for the whole tank. i've liquid fert and also base fert. the leaves are about or less then 1 cm in length. hidding themselves into the sand when new leaves coming out.
i think that the most impt is what is the height for ur tank. base fertilizer will helps to fasten the growth rate of the glossostigma. however glosso can grow well too without basefert. I have done the experiment in my tank, halfside of my foreground tank i placed in root monster, while the other side i didnt add anything. for the first few weeks, the side with root monster, glosso seems to be more dense. however after 3 months, both side looks almost the same.Originally Posted by SuperET
is there anyways so that the leaves will become more big and won't hide themselves into the sand?
firstly i would like to ask u..how did u plant the glosso? I've seen different ways of planting. Some juz insert the glosso into the gravel (no leaves is seen), but they provide strong lighting, glosso will still grow out, but longer time.Originally Posted by SuperET
i insert the glosso into the gravel. left the leaves appear on the surface. dose liquild fert once a week, change of water 2/3 once a week, 12 hours of 72 watts for the whole 3 feet and 12 hours of 1 bubble per second CO2...
Hmm, what do u mean by hide in the sand? did u mean that ur glosso instead of growing up but growing into the sand? Or is it that it did not even grow?
IMHO, try add in 1 more 72watt to ur 3ft. this will fasten the growth rate of plants including glosso. hav u measure ur co2 level? you may want to increase ur bubble rate to 1.5 or 2 bps for a 3ft tank. but remember! increase it slowly, keep an eye on ur fauna and make sure that they are not gasping on the surface.
glosso has 1 funny characteristic, it will grow upwards when light is dim. but in this case, its crawlers will not spread.
