Yea sounds okay.

Well, maybe you can leave the fans on all the time, well that's the case for me. My timer only control the CO2 solenoid valve and lights.
Hmmmm... 9 hours? You can go up to 12 hours for the plants. But 9 is fine.

Hm... just a query here, can i know how the timer work? It must be tuned daily or it simply turns on, say, the light ever day at a preset time? Was thinking, should i go oversea, it can turn off & on automatically for a few days or week.
yes, it will turn on/off at the preset time everyday or else no point for us to buy them
Cheers,

What i meant is, U juz set it once & it will do the rest everyday? If so, am thinking of getting one.Originally Posted by mordrake

yes, it will on and off at the set times everyday. no need to set again unless you have a power failure, decide to change timings or the timer spoil

Digital ones have one advantage... no need to reset after a power outage. They have a mini-battery (usually replaceable) to keep the timing settings even during a power outage. A great help when you have multiple tanks and timers (3 in my case).
If you get a manual one, get TheBen brand. I like the sturdy construction and compact design. It has one small flaw: when the power being drawn through it is too high, it might not auto-off. But that won't happen unless you are running a huge tank (6ft) with many lights, fans and solenoid being powered through it.

Has anyone seen a timer which is slim?
All timers I saw are bulky and are normally 1.5 times the size of a normal plug; hence if you are using a multiple power point extension you always have to "waste" one plug point next to it.
