I'm going to remove everything from my tank and add in some base fert. If i do this, will all my fauna still be able to live in it directly after i put the water back in? (if possible i will save the water taht was in teh tank)

i think there shouldnt be a prob. But ensure that the top layer is well washed b4 adding it in again, this is to ensure that there isnt any previous base fert left over from the previous time.

Also, adding in the water, aged water is better for the fauna too. But why the sudden need to add base fert?

    not a problem.
you can reuse the tank water in order to reduce the impact of a huge water change.
if it worries your, you can try this. after you have laid the base fert and gravel, refill with water. stop after you have filled to 1/3 tank. siphon out the water again. then refill with water again (reuse the saved tank water) this will reduce the concentration of fert in your tank.
