    only #1 - ok. the beak rather soft, not sharp.
    #2 - so-so, slightly too dark.
    #3 - worst of the lot, should have used flash but i have another shooter behind me who was using a compact so he just might not appreciate me scaring away the birdie.

    use a smaller aperature next time lor. btw, what aperature u shot them with?

    they were shot at F8.

    not sure but i realised that the nearer one is to the subject, the shallower the DOF is....true ?

    anyway lighting was less then ideal.....

    yah DOF is a geometric function, not linear.

    ah that means the amount of "depth of field" in the equation that calculates it, is not a linear function like 0.3x but 1/x (inverse function), something like that.

    I anyhow gasak one lah. you interested go and research a bit the formula lah.
