it is very good, even more concentrated than the ocean free one ... heard from the shop keepers that this current monkey geo liquid was previously from ocean free ... now that they have devised a better solution

have used it on my own, very very happy that it is much better than the previous one

Heard from the makers (FLEX) that the Ocean Free one is a copy of their product. The pirate product even carried their logo until recently!!!

Another customer commented that one LFS stopped selling the OceanFree version due to high number of complaints from customers.

Roughly based on what I've read from the brochure...
In addition to conditioning your water, it is suppose to be able to absorb or release minerals into the water to maintain the proper mineral levels. This is supposedly achieve by the ionic balance between the particles in the liquid and the water (or something like that). The particles will also provide additional surfaces for bacteria colonisation and absorb and hold on to disease causing patogens. Contains no nitrates nor phosphates. Complete natural... no chemicals involved. Able to handle small amounts of chlorine.

Its not meant to be a shortcut. Regular water change and proper cycling is still required. I think it will help tremendously in balancing the mineral levels in the water and help prevent algae due to mineral imbalance.

Anyway, I'm giving it a trial run on my planted tank. The tank turned cloudy during the 4th or 5th week into cycling (after revamp). I started geo-liquid and the water cleared in a little over a day. Was it geo-liquid or just normal cycling, I can't tell for sure. However, the water showed no signs or clearing before geo-liquid and my rams displayed better colouration after geo-liquid.

If nothing nasty happens to my tank in a few weeks, I'll try it out on my newt tank which has base fert, but very low bioload and no regular fertilising. The plants are not dying, but neither are they growing. Will post more when I have some results/conclusions.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:

Is GEO-Liquid acting as a water-based fertilizer? Or is it just supplying the proper amounts of minerals for the water?

You mean as trace elements supplement? I'm afraid not even it stated in the instruction manual. My Geo liquid is used as another ADA"Clear Super" for me.
