Hora's Loach/Botia Morleti?
P-L-E-C-O-R-Y=M-A-N-I-A!!! YEAH!
FLORENCE, capital of the region of Tuscany, has a population of around half a million inhabitants, spreads on the banks of the Arno, between the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian seas, almost in the middle of the Italian peninsula. It is a city which bustles with industry and craft, commerce and culture, art and science.
I don't think that is the fish. The fish has black narrow stripes and yellow based colour over the whole body.
i think that's the tiger/striped loach (botia striata)
see picture at http://www.loaches.com/striata.jpg.
Marcus, I don't its a b. stricta either. The stripes were not that narrow. I think it looks like a Distichodus lusosso after searching the Master Index of Freshwater Fish. Hope some fish experts can visit tropical and verify that.
i think i know what u are referring to..but i'm not sure abt its name.. it's not a loach at all..
it's very similar to a clown loach except that it has multiple black stripes while a clown loach only has 3 main stripes.. it's more elongated too..
i've seen it at rainbow and tiong bahru (the bigger one).
it looks like Distichodus lusosso but i cant confirm if thats the real name.
how abt the Distichodus sexfasciatus aka six-barred distichodus, it looks like the clown loach except this has 6 vertical stripes instead of the clown loach's 3
is this the one u saw?
i think it might be Distichodus sexfasciatus.
avant & Simon, it could also be the fish in the picture. Anyway these fishes were very beautiful and active. I almost bought them before I convinced myself to learn more about their identity(thats why I ask this forum for help) and feeding habits. If they were indeed the distichodus species, I don't think my 3 ft tank can accomodate as these fishes can grow to at least 30cm long. Furthmore they are plant eaters, my plants will definitely go budak in no time.[]
jason, dun wanna shock u.. but the stats in the Baensch atlas stated that it can grow to 1m[:0] in the wild though
here is the rest of the stats
orign: zaire basin
temp: 22-26
length: 1m (in the wild)
ph: 7
short nosed distichodus?
