Do you have anything to recommend? Will they die from this?Originally Posted by Fishsee
Use melafix. It's a "natural" medicine from Tea tree oil that will not destroy your biological filter. Remember not to overdose. Follow the dosing instructions on the bottle.
What puffer and under what water conditions are you keeping it? I.e. FW or BW or SW...
I'd rather be a puffer than a snail
If it's spotted puffer or figure 8 puffer...add in salt.
Melafix is a good medication for this disease.
I am keeping them under freshwater conditions...i have rasboras and plecos in there...adding salt..would it affect them?
I'd suggest putting your puffer into a quarentine tank. You don't want it affecting your other fish. Most puffers can withstand brackish to full salt water. So don't worry about "salt shocking" the little guy.
You can add table salt, it helps to kill off bacteria, but I SERIOUSLY also advise Melafix in this situation, and do a water change. If u have a quarantine tank, that would be better. Keep the water in pristine conditions, and see if he gets better. By the way, what puffer is this? Dwarf?
Oh.. if you're adding salt, you need to use a quarantine tank, or ur plecos... urm... uh oh.
