    Hi,

Freshwater Pipefish are available nowadays. Can I add them into planted tank?

I really have no idea what they feed on and I have 4 of them in my tank.

    Any advice? Thanks in advance..

I would say, why not? BUT provided that they are freshwater fish to begin with... And not brackish... Did you run thru the literature on them? Let us know... Seems like interesting fish, not the usual stuff one would keep...

I believe they eat brine shrimp instead of aglae as a lfs i went to told me. He was promoting the fish as an aglae eater.

These pipefishes are known to inhabit mostly brackish to marine environments. I don't think they were meant for a planted tank.

They are specialised feeders and will need small inverts like live adult brine shrimp for the larger ones, or baby brine shrimp for the smaller individuals. Some people I know feed theirs with baby guppies.

I've seen a lfs owner feeding them with adult brine shrimp and they were happily chowing them down.
