now i have an excuse/time to hold out the itchy finger syndrome.
Hi guys,
Another Aquatic Quotient event!!
The contest submission for ADA Aquascaping Contest is in a few months and I'm sure there are some of you who are getting your tanks ready for the deadline. We are considering the possibility of conducting a workshop specifically for tank photography. This workshop will cover the basics as follows:
01. (Photography) Equipment introduction and preparation
02. Preparing the tank
03. Setting up for the photography session
04. Considerations for the shoot
05. Advance techniques
The program will be structured at a basic level, catering to mostly point and shoot users, be it Digital or film users. Emphasis will be on tank preparation and correct use of photographic equipment. Advance techniques for SLR users with flash will also be demonstrated.
At this point in time, nothing is finalised, we are just checking interest levels. If it does happen, it will most likely to be held after Chinese New Year, either mid or end Feburary 2006. A suitable location has to be determined, but the workshop will only take a maximum of 12 participants to ensure personalised attention. The programe will most likely take about 4 to 5 hours.
Here's an example of Rupert's tank, which was shot with flash and a digital SLR camera. Whilst the results may vary with individual users, we hope to be able to bring up the standards of aquascape photography to give our members a slight edge in the forthcoming competition. As such, preference will be given to ADA contest participants in the unlikely event that the response is over whelming.
Do take note that this workshop WILL NOT cover fish photography at all.
Please feel free to give us comments on what you guys think and how to improve the event/workshop.
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

It is a good day to die!!!
I finally uploaded an avatar and Cupid is dead!!!
That's a good idea with ADA 2006 due end April 06
Count me in.
This will give me the motivation to act. I have said this before that I like the idea of sharing a common journey towards submission and preparing the tank. It is important getting the feedback from other like minded individuals on how to make improvements. Like all feedback, the recipient can decide to adapt/change/transform to improve their perceived chances of winning and/or improve the harmony of their aquascape. I use “and/or” in that people do not have to implement the changes as suggested, as beauty and satisfaction belong to the beholder. I changed two of my rocks around and will make more changes ... guppy's will go soon... itchy hand syndrome.
I was surprised by the amount of effort required just for the photo shoot, plus the number of flash units etc etc, it also took me a number of planned activities over the best part of week which I described in a post sometime ago “Preparing my tank for a picture shoot” post #69
http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...t=12267&page=4
So I am in on this… just regret that I have not seen my tank in 3 weeks..
There is one extra item, 06? That could be included on the agenda or it might be a bit premature and that is the shape & form of the submission packaging. What is sufficient, neat, tidy and positive? What form of packaging is “over the top”?
hi possible to provide more details? interested but must fit schedule
Benny! the green chapter showroom! Think lorba would rent the place out for a day? pretty sure all the participants wouldn't mind paying for a nice open location and a multitude of well scaped tanks. You could probably have a 12 person class in there. IF we moved that big glass table to the back....
PS: I'm willing to pay in driftwood/labour!
We are in fact in discussion with them. The place will be ready by the end of this month. So March is a likely possibility.
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
March? Count me in. Been longing to take proper shots of aquariums. I need a break anyway.
