What exactly are you putting in your tank, Ryan? I thought it was going to be 50 Cardinal Tetras?

Yep. Intend to fill up with cardinals only.

When someone brought up seeing the pencil fish in the LFS next to NA, I remember seeing that exotic black emperor which I think can only get from europe. So, asking if anyone knows of any LFS that sell exotic aquarium fish like the long fin mountain minnow and the black emperor?

Oh....Then you must watch out for posts by people like ranmasatome, hwchoy, justikanz, stormhawk etc. These guys are fish fanatics.

Be warned. They can be infectious.

Yup but those are the regular emperors. The black emperors come in occasionally only. I've not seen them for some time but I believe they might be in stock in some LFS.

Ryan, have you tried Ben's shop at TB? I think I saw some emperors there though I'm not sure if those were the black or regular types. Best to call and enquire. The shop details should be in the forum somewhere.

Long-fin white clouds are common. I think C328 stocks them every now and then.

(I may be a fish fanatic but I'm not that infectious... yet.. )

long-fin white clouds are not exotic, they just aquarium bred by humans to satisfy their perverted desire to make something that nature has not provided.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Feel so strongly about it, eh? They just like it long lah...

But frankly, the normal short fin ones look MUCH better. And you dun have to worry about fin nipping.

Black Emperors... Hmm... Ben's Wu Hu have some Emperors, but can't really tell in the bright pink lights whether they are black or dark bluish normal ones...

Ryan, I believe I saw them in Sea View Aquarium located at Seletar Farmway last evening. You may pay them a visit if you like.

Emperor is always one of my favourite , especially the male flare up.

The other looks like emperor also, it is called Nematobrycon lacortei . Except the male has red eye and the female has green eye. The body is exceptional beautiful.

Saw and bought 20 the true black emperor tetra for $20 at Sans Aquarium off upper paya lebar road. You can find the address on every saturday classify section. It quite a good size and bigger than the normal young size emperor tetra you find at the LFS.

with the new batch of black emperor in the tank , I can compare the blue tetra and emperor. The color formation of black emperor is quite good compare to emperor itself.

    Cheers
