Lorba's avatar is C. x timahensis i think. The red flower is C. griffithi, the white is C. schulzei. The griffithi was in a remnant swamp in an oil palm estate which also doubles as a dumping ground for rubbish. The schulzei is a locale which almost seems unlikely, given the high amount of human activities. Also found were Barclaya motletyi, 3 species of Blyxa, an unidentified Nymphaea, Limnophila sp., a red Cabomba, Eriocaulon sp. and mosses.

Part 1 of trip report here.

Update: according to Jan Bastmeijer of the Crypt Pages, the first plant is NOT C. griffithi. It could be a natural hybrid, as 3 other species are found in the surrounding area.

Our very own Mr Tree has also written an article on Crypts in China for Germany's Aqua Planta. Links and English text here. Scroll to the bottom.

That was a trip to collect fish but at the end the plants were more interesting! I was very happy to find C. schulzei, but was even more excited when I heard the hybrid news from Azmi!

    Boleh!!!

A potted specimen of the c. schulzei. Seems like an easy species, note that the leaves in the center is wholly new growth.

looks like the very very rare Sundaland Kiwi.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.
