Pennywort an alage curse?

Eversince I bought a bogwood with pennyworts on it, my tank has developed a growth in brown algae. Last 2 weeks ago, I bought 2 otos to clean my 1 1/2 feet tank, now they have grown fat, like their stomach is distented and here I was worrying if they didn't have enough. Does peenywort actually introduce brown algae? my friend actually warn me about it.

they won't introduce brown algae unless the tank that you got them from is already infested by the brown algae. so the algae just got migrated over...
