i have a tank with crs. But my water ph is dangerously high. 8.2. so i got some of those catappa leaves and throw inside that tank. It did indeed lower the ph but at the same time give that tank a brownish look.

Any bro here can help me solve this problem???

i need to lower my ph and to remove the tint.

filter media use r juz some normal wool and ceramic ring. (will ceramic ring raise ph)

if i use activated carbon will it remove the tint???

catappa leave got not much effect on ph so i took it out and change to peat moss. prepare to give it there for a day or 2 if still no effect on ph will add in a bigger amt of peat moss to lower the ph.

Dude... why don't you just do a water change?
And I mean change it with rainwater/distilled water. I doubt your shrimp tanks' that big. It'll lower your Ph to 7 instantly and I doubt you can shock your shrimp with pure water... Too fresh? not likely...

What kinda rocks are you using? if they're leaching calcium then that's probably why. Rain water is Ph 7 btw. unless you live in the west area it's sliiiiightly acidic. probably 6.7

i found out the root cause already. Bro here who wanna put stones in tank pls be careful and must do a test of yr stone using vinegar. If the stone starts to form bubble please do not use it cause it will leach calcium into yr water and raise ph.

i learn it through the hard way

The grey stone's you're talking about are GRANITE Graphite is what pencil leads are made of

That and I'll bet it's the white stone that's bubbling.

Granite is the safest stone to use in your tank as it only reacts under intense heat and pressure eg: in a volcano.

Marble on the other hand sucks for planted tanks since it dissolves like noboby's bussiness. Anyway good luck with the shrimp. Their shells are probably alot stronger from the extra calcium in the water.
