Actually..............
AQ already had more than 5400 members during Oct/Nov 2005. We have recently trimed off 1800 inactive members and was left with 3600 members. Seem like within 2 months or less, the numbers climbed back up again to 4000.
Membership pruning is a controversial issue and a lot of forums don't practice it so that they can show a bigger membership base. However, AQ is more focus on (aquatic) community development and the forum and it's statistics are just a means to an end. As such, we will not hestitate to free up resources to serve our active members better. This will be a continuous exercise to maintain our resources at a optimised level.
For December 2005, Aquatic Quotient has 1063 members (and counting) out of 3880 members, who have logged in. Of this 1063 members, the majority just browsed and only 317 members posted comments/queries on the forum itself. So this is just short of 10%, as indicated by Terence. However, the 10% gauge seems to be the benchmark for most online forums and we are working to improve the active membership ratio.
It might be of interest to know that Aquatic Quotient has grown from strength to strength in the last 4 years and the recent numbers (new threads, new posts, daily unique members etc, etc) over the last 9 months have reflected positive growth. December 2005 should be one of our busiest months since inception and we would like to take the opportunity to thank our valued members for their support.
On the subject about the Aquatic Quotient branded T-shirts, rest assured that it's on the project list, but don't count on it being part of your Chinese New Year wardrobe.
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
