The depth of field is very shallow in the cat-dog face-off that we can't see the subject's expressions/features clearly. Not sure if you got space to move back or change a slightly different angle?

I guess it is easier said than done. Maybe the subjects are already standing too far apart in the first place.

The partner is too big to come out during daytime..the cat is well trained for clearing the jumped-out fish on the floor.

Yup, about a few meters apart, so one I forcus on the the cat, and another on the dog.
