I have been getting this cocoon like thing (with a small crawling worm at one end) on my house floor recently. On an average of 1-2 per day!!! Could not identify what they are. Can any one advice? trying to determine the cause.
Sorry that I can't find elsewhere to post.

looks like a caddis fly larva... they live underwater and build protective cocoons from debris. As far as I know, they don't prey on fish, unlike dragonfly larva. Try keeping it and see it if pupates.

Ahhhh... so sorry to mislead everyone . This critter is on land and not in the tank. Just wanted to see if fellow forumers can give me a lead.

On the floor of my hall. It is almost daily that I clear 1-2 of these cocoons. Suspect it to be moth too... but just don't understand what caused the attraction. My two fish tanks ....?????

Since it's not an aquatic fauna, I've moved this thread to member's lounge.

I'm sure ranmasatome can give some insight into this query. Let's see if he notice this thread...

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
