get at least 6 of either.
I currently have 3 rummy nose, 1 dwarf pencil, 1 otto and some shrimps in a 2x1x1 planted tank. I am thinking of adding either 2 more rummy noses or 2 more dwarf pencils, can't decide because I like both fishes. Will 5 rummy noses still school in my smallish tank? And will 3 dwarf pencils school? My main priority is schooling in my aquascape.
thanks for any advice!

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Same thoughts as Mr Choy, although you might not see much schooling because it's a small tank for rummies.
i'd get more friends for the lonely pencil fish, besides theyre being cute little fish.

my experience with my pencils is that they tend to be aggressive towards each other once there is a certain number. Not sure if it is also due to the size of my small tanks. Rummies on the other hand do not have this problem and should school well if you have 6 or more. However, since your tank is small like mine, the schooling effect may not be prominent.

OK, I'll prob get 2 more rummys, I'm just afraid my tank crowded..

Don't think you have a problem with overcrowding. U only got 5 fishes in there now! Plus another two or 3 it's only 7 or 8.Originally Posted by stocker
