Usually that's what will happen to them(Rotala sp Green) in a high light(which is what you've got) environment.
Good afternoon,
my tank specs are,
2x1x1ft tank
36x2 PL osram daylight, 9 hours timer controlled
500l/hr hang on filter
Co2 injected via cermaic diffuser, solenoid controlled, fan chilled approx 25 degrees
ADA amazonia
EI dosing
i have kept rotala sp green in an even smaller tank (1.5ft tank) with lights also mounted on a stand. however, in that tank, they grew to a certain height before growing horizontally.
the ones in the pic are how they are growing now. it has been inside there for a week plus and it is just growing sideways, like my rotala sp "goias". is there any way to rememdy the situation. i have tried having only one tube on for a certain period of time to spur the rotala green to grow upright, however, i can't do that on a long term basis as school's starting and that it will be detrimental to the health of my other plant.
any advice?
any other stemmed plants that i can put in the mid ground other tahn MM?
thanks

Call me Brian.
P.S. This is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.
Trim them a few times. eventually it will grow straight (this is my experience)....
this plant is generally a crawl, they grow more vertically when you got less intense light.
