Goodness...that is one only a mother could love.. or some fish-lover like us..
yet another little loach I obtained from Bangkok (specimen via the kindness of AquariCorp), believed to be the Lepidocephalus macrochir.

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Great fish. Love the texture on the skin.
Personally, I would shoot this species with a darker colored or less reflective substrate. The subtle colors will show up even more.
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
haiz I don't have a gravel collection. actually I would like to find some really black but non-shiny gravel (like Aquasoil). The last one I found has a metallic sheen (still reflective) and is quite sharp on the edges.

did you see that chiu-chiu under the chin, far from the mouth? a bit unusual eh?

Might still have it, Otherwise, I have slate grey too. They are in some boxes somewhere. I dry them when I don't shoot to keep them clean.

Oh my god! You can see the nostrils! And such small beady eyes!!Originally Posted by hwchoy
The texture on the skin resembles small scales!! But I can see what you mean about the barbels. Are the rest like that too? Or just this specimen?

only got two pieces. both the same ah. think the mouth stretches to where the lower chiu is. the skin texture quite cute hor. unfortunately can't get any catchlight in the eyesOriginally Posted by benny
if you notice, of the two guys (see pix 2) one has a blacker nose. so you can see the chiu on pix 2 and the chiu on pix 3, they are from two different fish.
