see this mistletoe fruit has a large seed and is sticky. when it passes through the birds digestive system it comes out intact, wrapped in a sticky jello kind of goo. so this thing will stick to the bird's arse and refuse to drop off. the poor bird has no choice but to do a kind of squat, press-arse-to-branch, wipe-left-to-right, action so it will stick to the branch and get its arse cleaned. it has to do this a few times because of the sticky goo so it is very cute the way the bird has to do this squating exercise.
the mistletoe wants this because it doesn't want to find itself germinating on the forest floor, it wants to be deposited high up on the branches where there is sunlight.
so next time you see some mistletoe growing, or where there is some seed sticking to a branch, don't go and touch touch feel feel, because that is the bird's toilet paper
