Cool... Err... Cold...
Anyway, just out of curiosity, this is a pure leisure trip? What makes you wanna tour Antarctica?
Hi guys,
Some more old slides that I just scanned to the computer. These are from my 1997 Antarctica trip.
The above was taken at half moon island, our first continental landing on the Antarctica penisular. The chin strap penguins were the first (and actually the only) residents to welcome us. Our Russian expedition cruiser can be seen in the background and we used the zodiacs to get around.
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

You'll be surprised. It's actually quite noisy amongst the penguin colony and when the ice shelves "moan and groan".Originally Posted by ranmasatome

I always thought the groaning sounds were sound effects added into the documentaries... Interesting...

Quite being the main word... ITs probably only SEEMS noisy because its sooo quiet amongst everything else.. i guess noisyness is comparatively mentioned.Originally Posted by benny
Still i rather take penguin chatter and the love making of ice shelves anyday over cars, soot, flashy lights and noisy HUMANS.. ergh!!
That I'll agree with you totally. Here's a picture of the noise makers return home from the sea in the setting sun.Originally Posted by ranmasatome

No pocket. There's a big hole there instead.Originally Posted by Quixotic

Wow... sponsored?!?!?
Sounds very much like a tour package that I have read, 18 days as well... via Buenos Aires? The cost is like +-S$15K... *faint*
Benny, first pic seems to have a bluish cast or is it actual?
the "moan and groan" is caused by the ice pack movements, if not wrong.
photography opportunity paradise...
thomas liew
lets see if i'm lucky enough to go there to monitor penguin populations among other things.. i just sent in my resume..hahaha..
