this is my 2nd time trying vallis.......but still, they aren't doing well.....

a lot of leaves are turning yellow.......anybody got any idea Y?
cos i thought vallis is a pretty easy plant to grow, but they keep failing in my tank......really sad......
    tank specs: 3ftx 1.5 x 1.5
    co2: yes.....haven measure ph yet...but normally 30ppm
    lights: 3.3WPG, 8hrs daily..
    Fert: Lushgro KNO3 (1/2 tsp twice a week) and H2KPO4 (<1/4tsp twice a week)

no base fert..could that be the reason????

How long since the setup? Maybe you buried them too deep? Leave a tiny bit of their roots above the gravel.
I have grown these in rich or poor substrate. Both ways work as they take in liquid ferts well.

Wrong planting technique, no traces added and poor CO2 comes to mind.

Just wondering, did you test your water's pH and hardness?

Traces and CO2 should not have any problems... I seldom dose and there was once I stopped CO2 for almost a month and nothing affects my vallis... They just grow and grow non stop... And my lights are not that strong too...

I am beginning to think you could have buried the crown too deeply into the substrate...

From my amatuerish level in aqua planting. I believe vallis is pretty easy to grow. Mine has reached more than 2ft in height and have sprouted runners like nobody's business.

I believe like what the rest said, you should not plant the entire plant down, just make sure you leave the crown exposed. What I previously did was when I initially bought my vallis, I removed all the yellowish/half-dead stalks, and trimmed the roots to about 1 inch before inserting into the gravel. It's growing like mad ever since.

    Hope this helps bro..

From my experience, vallisneria sometimes melt off in the begining. Just trim off the dying leaves and leave them alone. Sometimes, after trimming I have about 2 to 3 leaves left. Once they are rooted, they should take off. It may take up to a month before they get established.

I agree. Mine stayed around for a while then it started growing. Patience!
