Does anyone else but me dread reunion dinner and having to see the relatives? The usual annoying questions, especially when you're already in your late 20s and un-married. If only relatives can be like the pets we keep... Just happy to see you and un-questioning.
    Call me Brian.

P.S. This is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

Even if you are married, it can be a dreadful affair. For example if you don't have kids. etc.

And.....I hate steamboat!! I had one yesterday and 2 more today! Arrggh!!!

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

That's the fun part! Part of our culture... Read one of the forum in ST about some Singaporean Chinese hating reunion dinners and CNY... This is done in comparison with the caucasians who look forward to Christmas where family get together even if they have no money to take a flight or train...

Quite sad after reading that letter in the papers... Wonder if this culture of meeting up with relatives who we haven't seen for some time will still be around in the next generation... For our generation, it should still be... I think...

    Cheers,
Think that is only applicable to the Chinese who always see that marriage and children is a natural progression when it is not...

Still....I hate steam boat. Why can't we have proper dinners. If we are so lazy, then might as well don't cook.

    Cheers,
Steamboats are nice... especially when your family sells seafood...
You could practically send fishes and prawns flying across the table!

BTW.. "cooked" another 2 Yamatos this morning... Bad omen...

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Hah... I just had the best reunion dinner ever... Most of the extra busy body relatives were at their in-laws' places. The ones that were left... Heh. Single like me.

Actually..this year i dont have reunion dinner.. lucky me... i think the culture overseas is because they are going to see their parents and CLOSE relatives that they ACTUALLY like but dont see because the land is so big..also since they have the culture of moving out after they are 18 or 21.. over here you try lah.. in no time you'll go pok eye cos house and car so expensive.. somemore we see the people we want to see almost EVERYDAY cos singapore so small..

As for the singleness and children mentality.. its typical.. i've grown to ignore it and just smile...expectation can be dreadful sometimes..

Benny.. i find the steamboat joke REALLY funny..hahahahaha

It's not a joke. I just don't like steamboat. When I was young, reunion dinners were properly cooked meals. These days, everyone has steamboat dinners. I was just watching TV after dinner and they were show more people have STEAMBOAT DINNERS for reunion!!!! ARRGGHH!!! It's become Singapore's unofficial reunion dinner!

    Cheers,

Should have threw them into the pot for flavour.... The broth wasn't thick enough I think!
