I believe these are hill stream loaches. They don't grow too big. But what happened? Did you leave them to bake in the car whilst you were out and about in the hot sun?
Cheers,
I recently bought 4 of these, however 1 of them didn't make it through the trip home.
Hope someone can help me ID this pleco and also to let me know if it will grow huge or not?

Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
I hope you didn't pay pleco prices, since this is a Gastromyzon. No it will remain about 2 inches long.

I paid $1.50 for each. Was I conned??
Not too sure why one of them died... I suspect that it was shock that killed that particular loach...

$1.50 is OK. This fish comes from hillstreams so you need to give it a rocky scape (with algae to scrape on) and a good water flow and well oxygenated water. also not too warm.

they come from running water leh... the ones i have i dump into tank with HUGE filter..so they can swim against current or at least let current run by them,,
i would think they usually die as the environment requirements for them tend to be more specific, i.e. highly oxygenated and fast current..
they are usually being sold as alternative algae eaters for planted tanks. i don't reckon that they can just survive solely on algae alone. furthermore, they aren't fast enough to compete for food.
Hmmm no wonder they're always situated at the filter's output...

They don't compete well for food, even among themselves if one or two are faster than the rest.
They eat bloodworms too.
