I've seen this mini hairgrass at Colourful Aquarium (besides NA) which has looks exactly like hairgrass but grows to only 3-4cm long and curls downwards. Is this a new type of hairgrass or it grew like this bcos of the tank conditions?

I saw it and bought from the Colorful also last week. Small clump around 6-7 small stalks for $10. Hope it can establish well in my 2' and 1' tank.

Is it as easy to grow as the normal hairgrass? Is it the same plant as the one xboxlive has got over at arofan?

i dont know how easy it is to grow..but it grows well in my tank.. so i speak from personal experience...not on a general basis. For me..it grows well.. i just transplanted some shoots over to the low tech.. will see how they cope. As i've stated..my favourite grass and foregorund plant ever!!.. dont need to trim one.. it just gets lusher and lusher..and stays short all by itself..haha

And yes..i think its the same.. if anybody wants let me know..i dont mind selling some.

Do you think it would look weird mixing the normal Hairgrass with the Japanese Hairgrass? Some standing up real erect while some are flacid?

I wasn't able to grow normal hairgrass for years (due to some mysterious reason), but this japanese variant grew terribly well without much intervention from me.

    Makes me wonder..

Knowing what plants to get and how to use them is an art.

Really strange calvin, i thought the normal one we buy from most LFS and teo farm is easier to keep.

Does it spread very fast like normal hairgrass?

I wanna try it but I wanna try to isolate it to an area . I dont have any base fert just monster root near the areas where i have plants, would that keep it from spreading?
