cool... and i would shift that didiplis diandra if i were you... it'll grow too tall and cover that beautiful arch
What Gravel??
beautiful driftwood by the way..
I think you're referring to the Stargrass. I was planning on trimming when necessary to keep it short so that the arch will still be visible I'm still debating on how I actually want to set up the foreground though, so we'll see. Thanks for the comment!Originally Posted by ranmasatome

Thanks Harsh! I bought the gravel at my friend's LFS and it was labeled as Black Beauty. However, I don't think it's the black beauty that's commonly referred to - the one that's used in sandblasting. The black beauty used for sandblasting is suppose to be more of a sand and magnetic but the gravel I have is neither. Bottom layer is mixed with laterite.Originally Posted by Harsh

cool.. the gravel is perfect.
Nice new setup. Like the driftwood. Agree that more plants needed to add more greens, tank look abit dark now.

On another note, my main light fixture started smoking last night and doesn't work properly now Luckily my friend can get me a free replacment, but still, a couple days without enough lighting for my tank. I hope my plants will be okay in the meantime.

For your first try, you sure are doing a really good job. It is very nice scaping, I think it will come out very nice when all your plants come in and start to bloom.
You can do a good scape with that driftwood there. Try to outline the driftwood... otherwise now it's masked by the blackground.
Thanks for the positive commentsOriginally Posted by Jungle-mania

I should be getting some Jungle Val early next week which I plan to plant at the back behind the middle driftwood. Hopefully the extra greenery from that will help it stand out. Also thinking of adding some Nana Petites to the larger driftwood on the left.
More plants are planned though! I'll post another pic later next week after I get my next batch of plants

wow I really like the substrate! Any of the singaporean guys seen anything similar?
Bought a couple more plants tonight - Nana Petite (x3), Jungle Val (x5), and some more Glosso. Also added 3 Otos - thinking of picking up some more
Edited the pics since I changed the layout

AH HA!! BLACK QUARTZ!! So that's what you're using... nice setup... but maybe you should move your lights further back. The tall background plants don't seem to be getting much light...
Anyway if the locals are wanting to get their hands on it Azmi has a nice big bag over at eco-culture.
You're probably right about it being black quartz, I really have no idea - just thought it looked niceOriginally Posted by XnSdVd
I have the Aqua-Glo 30w x2 fixture at the back so it's not as bright as the front which is a Odyssea 54w x2 fixture. Once I get a CO2 tank, I'll be upgrading the Aqua-Glo fixture for another 54w x2 fixture for the back. As far as I know, the plants in the back don't require high light to survive so hopefully they'll be okay.

Just a little updated photo of my tank, which includes a rescape.
I think the original photo I posted looked something like this :
Then I rescaped it to this for a while :
I wasn't satisifed with it and did one final rescape which now looks like this :
Got rid of some plants and added some new ones in. The foreground plants aren't really growing in like I had hoped and I'm still in the slow process of adding in more plants (don't have too much time with work, etc.) Let me know what you think of the new scape
Hey.. its looking good!! way to go.. any brighter pictures?
The last one looks fantastic.. Man ur rich,to spend that much .
