    Help someone!!
Went home today to find that all the edges of my fishes's fins is covered with white stuff... Some of their fins appear ragged and torn...

    :: Question ::
Is this Tail & Fin Rot?? Or Fungus??
What to do? I added some salt as well as a bit of ICH medication (blue colour one) i only have ICH medicine...

The fins appeared ragged and torn.. some of the white stuff falls to the bottom of the tank while they're swimming...

Difficult to photo the fish... it's very active...

Even my cory has it... One of the smaller cory died from the white stuff... The white stuff seems to have eaten right into the flesh of the small cory... looks quite scary

(another of my cory's eyes appeared opaque.. )

    Another question:
Will adding too much medication kill my mosses?? (had a hard time planting them...)

Anyone can advise on what to do?

    Hi Yampeck, Gorilla.
I suspect as much, you can try using Tetra...something, oops forgot it's a small bottle. Buy the package in Red and orange, not the blue one. I have had very good results with this medication. The fish will be okay in one day, another day or two, the symtoms will disappear. It was used in a planted tank with Amano shrimps, no side effects were observed.
Let me try to get the actual name for you tonight. sorry, old man problem.

If it happens to ALL your fishes in the tank overnight and you see them on the body as well as eyes, you may have a case of pH crash or ammonia burns. Check your water quality and have a look at the parameters.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    Hi Gorilla,
If you are only worried about the plants only, salt and ICH medication is bad for them. They respond poorly to salt( plant dislike ) and only some brands look into 'safe for plant and shrimp usage'. So you might wanna be careful there. Overdose the salt and some of the plants will start to 'melt'.

    Hi,
Yea I remember last time I added too much ich medication to a planted tank, and the plants turned pale-yellow after that... then some of the stones turned bluish.. lol..

So I don't dare to add too much now.. about 5 drops to my 1 foot tank and half teaspoon of aquarium salt... hehe.. did a water change too...

Btw, my cories are back to normal now.. very lively...

but i removed my cloud minnows to a bottle with medication because their fins still look ragged and torn =) their scales also appear to be slightly raised.. like dropsy... but just a tiny little bit...

Think it's good to add a little bit (really little bit) of salt to the tank... it kind of prevents some fish diseases i think...
Since there's only mosses in my tank, the mosses should be able to "tahan" the salt

2 teaspoons of salt to 2ft tank is okay for the plants... Quite diluted already... Except that the cories might be more sensitive to the salinity...
