Hi all,
which of these is the male?? No joke! Everything tells me it's the pretty one with straight throat and longer dorsal fin, but, the other one is constantly chasing it... that can't be right can it??
or are they both males??

they should be either both males or both females...i think
I hope not, and going by everything I've read, they are definitely different.Originally Posted by ranmasatome
Can someone confirm these differences or not! Males have longer dorsal fins that reach the Caudal fin, ( like the Trichogaster gouramies )whereas females have rounder and shorter dorsal fins, also males have a noticably straighter throat whereas females have a much more rounded throat. I don't think the often quoted yellow trim to anal fin for males is at all reliable for sexing, neither is yellow spot in front of dorsal fin.
So from pic the male is on the right and the female on the left... no?
Cheers
Female is on the right...for Sphaerichthys spp, the females are more colorful. Anyway, not so easy to sex them when they are young, should be able to tell them apart easily when they reach 4 cm(SL)Originally Posted by ourmanflint
