I have hatched BBS a couples of times. I am still a novice.
Probably a comment or 2 can help u thru'.

    1. I try to have Water to be at least PH 7.
    2. Tested 2 different LFS eggs, ond do much better than the other.
    3. I have obtained max. shrimps after 2 days instead of 1.
    4. I use a light source to activate the eggs in addition to the bubbles if you did not do so u may like to try.

the most important things i have found after numerous failures are light, heat and aeration
the salinity can vary a bit, not a problem
i used a heater at 31 degrees and a table lamp to hatch them in an inverted PET bottle with an airstone at the neck

    Hi,

    Just get any container...
    Add some salt and water.

Add airstone (powerful to circulate the water)
add BBS and 24 hrs l;ater...Voila.

Anyway...u can try another method..first soak it in water (without salt for 1 hr...after that follow the same procedure.

Anyway, dont get ocean free brand...hatch rate low...get a good brand or get from C328 and Lam Hong at 6-8 dollars for a small bottle

Generally i use 2 table spoons to 1 litre of water, works well for me. But I do find that salinity is not the main factor as long as theres enough salt. The quality of the eggs is most impt, have to get a good brand/source.

The best rate for brine shrimps eggs appears to be those from
Lam Hong. That's what I am using....and my hatching method is unconventional, but still gets >90% hatch rate.

Simply sprinkly the eggs on the surface of the water....leave it in a bright area...
no aeration, no heater, no mess.....guaranteed to hatch within 24 hrs...then just siphon, strain, rinse into tapwater and feed. Get
2 containers....24 hrs apart, and you will have constant supply of BBS. Try it...it works...no bull****.

    Hi,

Corydorus, do u mean that he is using "de"capsulated BBS? anyone knows where to get?

Also, i recently tried one method. Saw on the bottle of BBS (big can) that teaches how to hatch them. First, just add some BBS to water (no salt). This is supposed to hydrate the eggs aiding better hatch rate. This is carried out for an hour without aeration or anything.

Then add salt and more water to the required amount and aerate.

Aerate vigourously and i dont use any light source. hatch rate at least 90 percent like that. use light source to harvest though as they will swim towards light source.

The hatch rate is significantly increased by the pretreatment i would say. 1 hr of hydration.

Think in this case, brand is important. hehe. some brand lousy hatch rate, some are better.

Anyway, Lam Hong selling them at 5 bucks a bottle now compared to last time at 6 dollars.

    Cheers,
    tltan

    Hi Cory

No. The eggs that you buy from Lam Hong is not the de-capsulated version (they still have the shell). When you do it my way...the shells will just sink to the bottom after hatching...and the BBS will be swimming in the middle portion. The top will hold those unhatched eggs. So just siphon from the middle section and into a fine net. Best of all, I can re-use the water up to a week or so, and the hatch rate remains good.
BTW...I use water from my marine tank.

Ya u r right. is "De". Wah so many successful methods.

    1. No aeration also can.
    2. Pre-soak also can.
    What's next ?[:0]

I think my eggs sure failed if no aeration. I will try tonite
using presoak 1 hr method with water then add Salt(+1hr lighting-Kiasu)
    and 23 more hr aeration.[]

My newly hatched cory fries will need them tomorrow.[:]
