Think I'll go ask about it if no one else knows.

Thanks a lot Simon, I'll call and ask Chan.
if you like those with rounded corner type with cabinet, cover, lights, filter all in ... try H2O. they have those that are used as divider as well... nice. so far, they are the lowest for my 2 ft at $240. and it's glass, not acrylic (will scratch when you scrub them with greenwool)
Just call Chan.4'x 2'x 2' bare tank cost $300~$400. Quite expensive leh.Where can i get more economical rates for 4'x 2'x 2'? (not the cabinate type. I'm looking for 2 tierer)Where is H2O?
Thank in advance and sorry for my loh soh. []

Always remember to check tank thickness when comparing prices. Some even give only 6mm glass. Quite dangerous
The one Chan offered was 10mm only. Any recommendation of shop offering reasonable price or any free-lance glass maker that can do wrought iron stand also?
10mm is quite ok for a 4ft tank. It's definately strong enuf.----------------

hi,
what's the matter with 6mm base glass for 4 ft? i just ordered my 4x1.5x1.5ft.
they said tt 6mm for the base is alright if i dun plan to keep large fishes like arrowanas.
anyone can tell me what problems could arise from 6mm base glass?

4x1.5x1.5 should have a base of 10mm. it's quite dangerous to have anything thinner as it might crack.
Why the tankmaker says it's OK is because he thinks that only a large arowana can weigh >3kg etc. But if you're keeping a planted tank, it could be even heavier! the substrate alone could be 40kg!
it is not just the fish actually
the water pressure and also the weight of the gravel substrate rocks etc
10mm bottom is safer if your height is 18"
it will give you a peace of mind.
many ppl will advise you against 6mm bottom. So after you get, you have 1000 ppl telling you thats not right and you will end up regretting.
you dont need to pay a lot more
when it comes to tank, you cannot be stingy.
My 3x1.5x1.5 from Nature is already using a 10mm base. I think it's better considering the weight it has to hold. Also less worries in future.
