That's why some of us older ones still call the harlequin "StampFish"
I am at Hefei city where my current house(or base) is located...then while i was looking at my old stamp collection, i found this.
I got it when I was still in China back late 1980s!!!!!!!!!!

Really Lawrence?
I never thought it was called a stampfish for such literal reason.
there are several other fish appearing on that series, the hexazona, the two spot gourami, and some marine fish.

I always say stamp fish, and my younger peers don't know what I am talking about!

I'm crypt collecting... Starting cheap, now have Cryptocoryne beckettii, C.beckettii var petchii, C.crispatula var.balansae, C.griffithii(Melted! ), C.nurii, C.parva, C.pygmaea(Melted! ), C.tonkinensis(Melted! ), C.walkeri, C.wendtii 'Brown', C.wendtii 'Green', C.wendtii 'Green Gecko', C.wendtii 'Tropica' and Cryptocoryne x willisii
Oh, juggling is hard work, man!...
colin, then you must be very old indeed.
Hexazona was known as "tiger barb", 2-spot called "sampan fish".
During those days, fish keepers call fish by their nicknames, and it's unthinkable to call fish by their proper latin names. In fact, one would be considered well informed if he could name the fishes in English. In those days, "ang her" referred to both platies and swordtails and "Li Her" refers to both the koi and the carp caught from ulu pandan canal.
To be able to say "Harlequin Rasbora" was a big deal those days.
Warm regards,
Lawrence Lee

To say 'Harlequin rasboras' now is also quite a deal for a lot of LFS owners... The aqua trade is still very much Mandarin/Hokkien dominant...

I said to Rocky from Henderson "how much your stampfish?"
He understood.

uncle choy, when were these stamps being used? 70s?
1968 or so, must check. this is the first definitive after independence. included in the set are the birds and orchids. I go home and scan the page for you.
