Hmm... Just to share... Several of my Blyxa japonica floated up and one of them flowered... They already had flower stems for a week but they were all underwater till now...

To have the flower stalks, give them lotsa light. If the leaves turns reddish or have "patterns" on them, then you are not far away from having the flower stalks soon.

    Cheers!

In my opinion, I think they need to be close to water surface to send the flower stalk out of the water to bloom. Just like what Justikanz experienced.

I once bought some B.japonica and let it lie in a shallow pail by the balcony. It flowered too. Those planted in the deep tank did not flower.

good photography skill there bro... I had my 'Giant' Blyxa Japonica with blooming flower like those you have before. Interesting thing is that it will have around more then 4-5 flower stalks surfacing always. Love that cute little white flower with yellow heart...

    blyxa japonica

    Hi guys

any idea what kind of environment this plant likes, other than strong lights, cool water? cos I tried a few times, but in the end always fail. the leaves just break off, and in the end left nothing...

It loves nitrates... Grew them before in a low-tech tank... So CO2 not a must...

In strong lights, the leaves become lighter green and reddish spots starts to appear... Will thus screw up your scape colour scheme sometimes as a result...
