I am not good at using the terms and explain... I'll let others do the job...
Anyway, I'm moving this thread to Member's Lounge... where it is more appropriate. The mod there might move it to Photography later.

Oh, juggling is hard work, man!...
simply use a photo editing software ... from the basic Paint (included in Windows XP) to the very popular Adobe Photoshop ... lots of freeware available too which can do the job ... ACDSee, IrfanView, etc etc ... hope this helps

usually the option is under Image->resize menu
For photoshop, you might want to use the Save for Web function where you can save your picture in a new size and different format while retaining your old picture...
still have no idea how to do it.. i have adobe photoshop album starter edition 3.0. can any body give a more in depth or step by step explanation? kind of an idiot in this sort of things. Thanks!
If use MS Photo Editor, go to Image -> Resize, choose Units as Pixels, then change the Width or Height pixels to the one you want.
If want to remove unwanted portion of the photo, use Image -> Crop to remove the margins.
Hope this helps.
hmmmm Photoshop Album should be similar to other Adobe software ... go Image -> Resize -> Image Size
if you are looking for cutting off certain portions of the picture, select portion of picture you want and go Image -> Crop
alamak juz make a copy of it and try changing using the software la ... no harm done ... no try won't know rite?

I use irfanview, I find it simple and fast in batch mode, and (if you configure properly) the resampling algorithm is pretty good.

Anyone tried GIMP before? Heard of this software many years back but never gotten to use it.
Did a search and read some more than good reviews for it. Is it the real deal?
My guide to using Irfanview is below. Have fun! Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition does not have the photo resizing tool.Originally Posted by wadzzup

This guide will use Irfanview as the photo resizer program. You can download it here.
Step 1: Open up the application. You should see this screen.
Step 2: Open up the picture to be resized using the File-Open. In this case I'm using a rocky shoreline picture.
Step 3: It's time to resize the image. Click the menu as shown below, or simply press Ctrl-R.
Step 4: You'll see this menu. On the right there're some standard dimensions of pictures that you can select. I recommend 800x600 pixels because that is the biggest you can go without skewing the screen when you post a image here. On the left you can manually type in the dimensions you desire.
terence you know there is a batch mode right? press B.

That one I haven't tried... I don't take pictures en masse like you all, leh!
Does this Irfanview do colour adjustments as well?

that kind of processing is best done with something like photoshop.
