I don't know if anyone tried this before but I bought a pregnant cherry shrimp with greenish color eggs 2 weeks ago. It died a few hours after being transported into my aquarium. Not wanting the eggs to go to waste, I extracted the eggs from the dead shrimp and put them in a small container with water from my aquarium. I use a spoon to stir the water a few times a day and left the eggs there. Initially, a few of the eggs turned white and were thrown away. However, a few days ago I see two black dots on the eggs (shrimplet eyes?). This morning, to my surprise, I saw 2 cherry shrimplet in the container. YES!! They survived! Took the 2 shrimplet out from my container. After lunch I found another shrimplet in there. So I guess they don't hatch at the same time. Well, I'll be waiting by the container observing the eggs if anybody wants me.

That's interesting... I thought that once the eggs dropped off from the female, it would be a goner...

Well, the eggs didn't drop actually. It's just that the female died and I took the eggs out.

Well, I bought a pack of 10+1 cherrys from the shop. When I put them in 2 died ... probably because my tank was too new (only 2 weeks old at that time). Now the juveniles cherry are in the same tank. The tank is okay now, full of other juveniles who are born in the tank too.

I rather not discuss that gruesome experience hee

Anyway, just to update, I counted a total of 20 eggs when the first one hatches. Until now, 12 eggs hatches, the rest got fungus and were thrown away. However, 2 baby shrimplets didn't survive, so in total I have 10 survivors.

I'd imagine you could've prevented fungus with a teeeny bit of meth blue. That and why aren't my shrimp getting berried? I keep hearing they're the easiest things on earth to breed. But mine just don't.. lol

Yeah, didn't have meth blue. Besides, I wasn't sure the eggs were going to hatch in the first place. Just thought I give it a try.

for those with lots of gravel, heavily-planted tank and mosses, spotting the eggs would be like looking for needles in a haystack huh?

You can lure them out with some algae wafer and they will gather around the wafer.

Mine too. Most of my wafer is eaten by my Malayan rather than cherry. But by far the most agressive eater is still the big Yamatos.

Mixing Yamatoes and cherry or malayan together also look odd (in term of their sizes) in the same shrimp tank.
