Otocinclus are probably the smallest, fish-wise. They mainly eat soft green and brown diatoms as far as algae is concerned, so might not be what you're looking for.

Not an algae eater. Any algae that they eat is from them trying to pick at the micro organisms, which are living on the algae. When they're fed, they won't eat any algae.

Well, u did ask for algae eater but need not be a fish... So...

Can try shrimps (cherry, malayan) if u want. Yamoto a bit big for my liking but is another good option.

How about snails? Got some good algae eaters (I not too sure which one is good). You can get good advise if required from Bros here.

The problem lies in th fact that I don't have moss in my tank for them to feed off, did think of it, but I am not sure if it is a good idea. Right now in my 1 footer, I have a log of windelov, 2 small difformis, 2 becopa and several bunches of plava as my foreground. I have only 3 amber tetras for fauna.

My light in my tank is 13w, DIY fan, and a hanging filter. Fert is a drop of iron and flourish a week and a CO2 tablet. Still safe to put 2 prawns in?

I think u still can introduce some shrimps into your tank but maybe need to supplement them with some other food since there is no moss in your tank. Do take note that yamotos would start on plants if they do not have enough to eat.

I had perfectly cut out holes on the end of tenellus leaf, might have been those from the farm and not those you get in the LFS.

dunno if it's the smallest, but the dwarf otocinlus seems small enough and they don't grow very big, unlike the sucker fish. Also otos are hardworking too, it's always a delight watching them feed away on the glass wall, unlike the sucker fish that sits at the bottom of the tank doing nothing all day

Plecs are nocturnal creatures... So you probably wouldn't see them swimming about in the day... Try putting a night light and you will see them swimming about in the open when the lights are out...

You might even see snails swimming in mid water... I have seen my ramshorn and porch snails doing that when the lights go off...
