Got back from Malaysia today & found the male apisto is died. It didn't even manage to breed. Got some much trouble to get it into Singapore. Really sadden my heart. Wonder if I should continue and let the hobby died with the fish.

    Hi Peter,

the pair of fishes is kept in the old 2ft tank. As i was cycling the new 1.5fr tank for them still. The male has died when i came back this morning. Left the female only. I didn't feed any live food this week.

    Cheer up bro.
I guess most of the apisto keepers ever felt the same as you are feeling now even though most of us dun actually get their apisto overseas but the feeling of losing something that you realli like, its quite painful for all of us...esp when u think about the money spent, effort spent to bring it in etc...

Hope you shall continue in keeping this beautiful species.Bro Benetay have one pair of Ap. Viejita super red for sale recently, maybe can ask him if its still available.Btw if you are not choosy then there are quite a number of beautiful species of apisto available locally.Look at some of the my apisto pic at the cichlid thread. They may not be superb quality but they do make me feel satisfied whenever i look at them.Anyway everything is entirely up to u.
    Good Luck.

    wackytpt,

Shit happens sometimes. I know fishes of that quality is hard to come by, but don't worry, it's not out of reach.

I'm going up north very soon and can get you any fish/species you like to kick start the hobby again. Just let me know which species you fancy.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Nicky, don't give up on apisto.
I am currently suffering from apisto withdrawal due to a loss but will be back with more.
You should rebound with a vengeance!

That's why I am always keeping in tandem with a few buddies.
So at least you can get your surviving female to breed with another buddies's VJ male.
It's NOT "Chee lick", NOT "Chee Chee Licks"!!! Cichlids is pronounced as "Sick Lids"!!!!!

Now trying to look for another pair. If can't then will let go the female. Our buddy Male viejita has been sold off.
