Are they a good mix? Thinking of putting a few discus in my 3ft tank together with my apistos.

yes, they do quite alrite together but discus need more than 3ft of space (especially if yr apisto r breeding, yr apisto wouldnt hestiate to defend their young from bigger fish like discus)... I used to have a few wild discus with apisto and dun face any probs... now I got only 2 Tefe green left.. one thing I mus advise u, is that discus r quite jumpy, so avoid place them at high traffic areas in yr house

Simon, I'm sure you've seen the discus in Teo's planted tank right? That one's real aggressive. *Phew*

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.

hahahaaaa... that one super aggressive.. my wild discus r more tame.. except for feeding time.. they still get irriated by my big SAE and readily chase him away during feeding time.. but all in all, they r gentle fishes, jus too much maintenance for me to handle.. me waiting to going back to Altums

    Simon, what's holding you back?

Hmmm... would altums and apistos get along in the same tank?

I suppose altums and discus togethar won't real work?

How many discus can i put in a 3ft tank if I intend to keep only discus and apistos? No problem about my apistos being aggressive during breeding because this tank won't be used for breeding. I'm now using 2 ft and 1ft tanks for breeding. this is more for display.

vincent, becoz I still have 2 tefe green.. altums r coward, and most of the time, is the cause of scaring my discus.. so me jus waiting for my discus to go haven b4 I add in altums

gerald, standard rule for discus is 1 per 10gal, I previously had my apisto in my 6ft for display but ends up breeding them with altums and discus. my agassizii tefe is brave to defend their fry against these 2 bigger cichlids and always peck on them to get them a reminder

3ft tank max is around 6 put that's means Discus only. With Apistos and other inhabitants like algae agents,I would suggest 4 Discus. How are you planning to filtrate your tank?
    Cheers!!

My current tank is running on a Eheim Ecco 2233 with a rainbar. It shud be able to do the filtration job quite well. Think I'll start off with 3. Will go down to LCK this weekend to get them.
