crytos are not tied to the wood, they are usually sold in pots. I think u've mistaken crytos with some other plants.

Java fern does nicely on wood.

you've got the wrong concept here
the size plants grow to is not dependent on the fact that it is potted
    [:]
we always remove the pots and trim the roots
this helps the plant to grow better
i'd suggest you target the smaller plants instead of thinking about restricting their growth

At 2 watts per gallon, you could try a java fern tank. Get the windelov and the normal strain kinds and get some loose, get a nice large driftwood. With some artistic direction, it can turn out looking very nicely. Goes well with barbs and rasboras.

Actually you can try stem plants too. You don't really need slow growers like java fern and nanas.... Can give them a try. You can go down to Teo's at LCK or ah Pek's at Lor Halus

    hi

no......i m referring to that those plants always come tied with driftwood instead of pot. In tis case, it will take up much of my limited tank space.

How small is your tank? The driftwood is already quite small. Hmmm... well, buy loose ones then.

    Thks all.

    Another Q,

I had put in some roots fertilizers "The 7 balls" from JBL.

Do i need liquid fertilier for my case? If yes, what brand/type to recommend?

    hi
what plants do you have now? if you stuck to the nana and java fern i'm afraid to say the fert balls would be of no great effect
    you will need liquid fert

for java moss, i've had it grow at the low 30s, 31~32 max
it takes longer and algae tends to collect in them
one tactic is to employ a LOT of malayan shrimp to turn them over or you have to siphon the moss wall when you do water changes

if you notice recurring bba when you've removed all you can see it's quite often the moss wall that's hiding the pest
