last time had a 3ft tank background covered fully with vals, they are really a pess, gave me a headache cos they keep growing.[]
I read somewhere that Vals will grow and propagate like crazy (given the right conditions) for a few months then die off.
What's the experience for ppl keeping vals in this forum? Do all the Vals die or just the 'mother' plants, leaving the new growth alive?
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

Benetay,
How often did you have to prune them?

Hi vinz, u are right to say that vals grow like crazy if the conditions are right. So far my main plants are OK. The leaves continue to die off and new leaves will replace the old ones. I used root monster, hence my vals are big and propagate non stop. Need to prune them once a month as they need to crowd over other aquatic plants.
I read that too that Vals spread quickly. However in my tank, my Corkscrew Vals are very slow growing, which is good for me. So far, only about 20% of the mother plants sent out a runner in the last 5 months.----------------

The first time I planted them, they started turning yellow and melting so I thought they were dying. But eventually they got used to the tank conditions and became alive again.
In another tank, I have had the Vals for 2 years. And they are still at a shady corner with only a few new runners.
In both cases, the Vals did not grow too tall and have not reach the water surface.

Juggler's tanks
Vals are very easy to propagate. It was slow at first and boomed to a nuisance.
