mmh thats a good question i'm not quite sure, i suppose mussels are basically filter feeders and the get their food by filtering the water. Maybe they are eating the micro organism in the aquarium.

...maybe they can act as natural filters in the aquarium.

i'm not sure the price, didn't ask. they are at one of the bottom tanks.

freshwater mussels?? weird... anyway.. mussles are indeed filter feeders.. and eating micro organism in the tank.. like daphnia.. but they are not filtering the water to keep it clean.. []

I saw in bangkok's weekend market pet section: 4 inch diameter horseshoe crabs (king crabs), those with a long spiky tail.

Hope you are no longer collecting local beach creatures from our sea-shore. At least they have a chance of survival when left alone...."take nothing but memories, leave nothing but footprints"

Just been to TB market, there is this shop which I always go, they are selling these strange looking crabs...quite nice actually...dark blue top shell with orange coloured legs and pincers. You might want to drop by as they have some exotic species available.

crabs and other creatures with pincers don't agree with planted tank.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Since the crackdown by AVA on herps, i've not even seen the normal newts for sale anywhere. I think it'll be a while before small herps (other then turtles/terrapins and feeder frogs) show up in the LFSes again.
