    hi,

just ordered my 4x1.5x1.5 ft tank... with black silicone finishing.

now to find some lights... anyone knows where to buy good, cheap PL sets?

how many bulbs do i need? 04x 36w or 2x 36w for a planted tank? a bit confused oso....

btw i bought some expanded clay granules from a plant nursery. wonder if that can be used as a thin layer buried beneath my gravel for plants? (~1cm thick with ~1 inch of aquarium gravel on top) is it enough?

    comments or suggestions anyone?

    thanx

u can try Nature.. they r very reasonable.. the amount of lights depend on the theme or the aquascaping u intend to do... can range from 4x36 to 8x36

How moch lights needed will depend on the type of plants you're getting. Starting a new tank should consider more fast growers which are noramlly light demanding.
You should put in at least 4X36W PL/FL.
    Cheers!!

Anyway, i'm trying to get my uncle to source around for the PL lights and the E-ballast. Hopefully to get it cheap so can sell to the people here at a price cheaper than LFS.

    is a good idea
but Mass Orders have a lot of problems
    and the savings aren't phenomenal
would be easier to get from those electrical/hardware stores
