I'm curious to see what're the public's opinions on this slightly recent newcomer to our hobby...

Looks really good here doesn't it?

Does anybody have a tank shot of how this plant impacts your scape? Any special observations? How does this plant compare to the normal hairgrass other than leaf orientation?

Terence a little bit late ain't it??
i have a tank full of it..but sell here sell there.. rip up here rip up there.. now left chunks of it i put into 1.5ft scape.. will take a pic of it for you.

My take... favourite kind of hairgrass.. golf course lawn effect with no trimming needed when its dense..

    till the pictures..

Yea well... I felt bored so I decided to do this.

I'm mainly curious to see what full tank shots with this plant look like though. I've only seen closeups like the one above, and not a full lawn.

    Is the full lawn impressive?

Prices will fall... especially for fast growing plants; heard this plant grows as well as the normal hairgrass!

Do the leaves look greener, or is it the same tone as normal hairgrass?

I think it's a great plant. grows fast, looks nice unlike tellenus when dense it doesn't look messy. Got some from Ranma the other day, now have a patch. I find it gives a more natural look then normal hairgrass which stands straight.
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.

I would say it is overpriced...
Will try some when i get a bigger tank, will make a nice lawn and see the effects... ( my next tank will be rock and grass mostly )

But i still like Etellanus a lot...growth is very fast...
but the japan hair grass is better than the normal hair grass, which tend to catch too much dirt from the water in initial stage

Seem like this plant can also spiral and grow quite tall. I saw some at Colorful.
Maybe lighting play a part to keep it low ?

I agree. I bought 10 plants only about a month ago but now I have around 30-40 plants.

What i mean is that it's growing in spinning upwards way (like spiral staircase) unlike normal hairgrass which is straight upwards.

When I first saw this grass in ranmasatome's tank when I popped by the other time, I fell in love with it straight away! The grass supposedly stays close to the ground and very little trimming is required, underwater golf course anyone?
