may i know where u seen it?
Hi,
Have anyone ever used african wood (mopani wood) in their tank before? Saw some in LFS, looks very nice (but a bit expensive). Just wondering how it will affect the water parameters. I heard from people that those wood are very hard and it'll sink straight away. What about tannin, etc? Anybody with experience to share?

Last time I see it in NA. Don't know still there or not.
This is the front of mopani wood, and the bottom picture is of the otherside.
It looks like it can sink readily. No experience with this wood though.
Some info from thekrib.com:
Mopani wood looks nice once it has stabilized. But it can take months
before it stops leaching significant amounts of tannins.
It's still there at NA when I visited 2 days ago.

I'm using it and it does sink readily. But the tanin leeching was quite a long drawn affair. I used to buy them for S$20 a kg from Sam Yick.
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
