This centre is a tourism spot as it is the nearest place to Kuching (12 miles south of Kuching) where you can see the wild Orang utans.

Orang utan (Pongo pygmaeus) means "jungle man". It is a species of ape. It is very intelligent, very large (can grow up to 1.4 m tall), tail-less primate.

The daily feeding time for the orang utans is 9.00am to 10.00am in the morning and 3.00pm to 4.00pm in the afternoon. During the feeding time, the orang utans will come out from the jungle (lowland dipterocarp forest) to take and eat the fruits given by the staff of this wildlife centre.

**some shots are taken using digicam, Fujifinepix S5000. The rest are taken using digital SLR camera, Nikon D50.

A tourist is trying to throw an orange to this juvenile of orang utan. This intelligent orang utan knows that and it is ready to grab the orange by hanging upside down from on a tree branch.

The large male orang utan. They called him "Ritchie".

Inside the beruk (a house for ceremony). In the past, Bidayuh used this house for performing some old traditional ceremony.

A bamboo ladder in the center of beruk.

The real human skulls hanging inside the dark house. In the ancient time, some native people in Borneo were head hunters. Borneo was used to call "The land of head hunter". Today, people do not practice this head hunting culture anymore.

Close-up picture of real human skulls. In the past, people only hunted the head of their enemy.
