    hi guys,
will wish to check on how does glosso actually grows? does it go upwards a bit before spreading horizontally?

    thank you

    yours sincerely,

Mine start spreading with new plantlets within 3days!
I think if your lights are strong, it should not grow upwards at all!

Yes, if your lights are strong enough, it won't grow upwards at all.

In my experience, once it grows upwards, it always grows upwards.

    I must agree on that!
Once it grow upwards, it will always grows upwards!
So think its good that you ensure you have sufficient light before planting!
    Hope this helps!

Light determines how they grow, strong light they will stay low and spread like wildfire when they start to grow up, it's time to change your tubes.

Will the effect be nice if glosso is mixed with hairgrass (japan version or normal version) and E.tellanus?

Asking this because I intend to have my next scape with Rocks, glosso, hairgrass and E.tellanus, all mix, with more e.tellanus around the rocks, and possibly blyx japonica around the corner and near rocks, and long hair grass at the background near the corner end...

or will the glosso grow so much to cover all the etellanus and hairgrass?

saw that mix in amano tank, but i dunno if he does a lot of maintenance, or just let them grow out wildly?

I guess he does, should I say his employees does the maintenance... Else when the HG grows into the glosso patch, it probably wouldn't be that nice...

    E. Tellanus and HG when mixed together is very nice since they are essentially of the same "shape"... But glosso is flat and creepy...

if i put a wire mesh of glosso into the gravel, will the glosso grow (spread) as well as planting directly into the gravel?
    Cheers,

stormydax, maybe you can share the amount of lightings you have.
something to share, experienced before using 2*40w and 1*36w FL on my 4ft tank, planted glosso. no signs of them growing upwards but spreading(but slow).

Supposed others have cleared your doubts, look forward to your planted project with glosso, be sure to post pic too.

    GENOAH 235H or 235?
I tried on the 235H, and it did not worked out!
I think the height is too much for the light to penerate!
No idea about the 235, but think it should do fine as its shorter!

I've read that the HG will almost always out compete the glosso

what about the ideal temperature to enhance growth? is 28 deg c ok? do they require very rich (good) fertiliser? or minimum? thanks to all the bro here for sharing.

28 is okay, i personally go for at least 27.

They do best with the usual good conditions for plants. They require regular fertilisation for proper good growth.

Glosso can be "trained" to grow horizontally. But it takes some patience and back breaking work. Just keep pushing those verticle stalks down they can grow horizontally.

Yup glosso can be "trained", it took me around two to three back breaking months before all the plantlets all "trained" to spread horizontally but too bad by then the hair algae also over run the glossso so in the end all are cleared off the foreground.

K11, wow! It really wasted alot of your effort ah. Personally tried with glosso before, didn't really succeed well in training them to crawl

Hmm, have had my glosso for about 2 months and they've never really grown tall at all. A lot of them are spreading horizontally, but not as much as I'd hoped.
